How to Dock a Twin Engine Boat

Have you ever wondered how you can dock your boat efficiently in any weather condition? Or perhaps you just want to go on the shore to buy some supplies quickly. In this article, we explain how docking a twin engine boat is more easy then it sounds. Twin engine boats have an extra home engine but the principle of docking is quite similar to other boats.

Firstly ensure you have a strong docking line to tie to a secure point and fenders on the docking side to prevent damage to the boat. Optionally you can have a “roving fender” or spare fender to cushion the exact point of impact. Pull the line back and make a round turn on the cleat. Docking a twin engine boat is different from single engine boats in that you only go ahead only with the engine closest to the dock. Manoeuver the boat by turning the wheel as far away from the dock as possible.

Once the boat is in position, you can secure the boat you can keep the engine in gear or switch off the engine. Docking a twin engine boat should be a hassle free process.
